1 Both the parties should belong to Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh or Jain religions.

2 Neither party should have a spouse living at the time of marriage.

  1. Once you login, it will show you the documents needed to upload, each document must be less than 50 KB:
    1. PAN of bride and groom.
    2. 10th marksheet of bride and groom.
    3. Current address proof of bride and groom (Aadhar preferable).
    4. Passport size photos, marriage photos.
    5. 2 Affidavit on Rs 10 stamp paper. (you can get from the notary, lot of folks at court who prepare affidavit, format present on the edistrict website).
    6. PAN card and address proof of 2 witnesses.
    7. Once the upload is complete, then take an appointment. Do not pay fees online. If you paid fees online, it will not be reimbursed, you will have to pay at counter again.
    8. Now, prepare your file, arrange documents in order,
    9. Acknowledgment receipt of appointment.
    10. Application form duly filled and signed with passport size photos. Passport size photos should be on white background.
    11. Both affidavits.
    12. Photos on a plain white paper, 2 passport size groom photos on the top left and bottom left, 2 passport size bride photos on the top right and bottom right, 6X4 marriage photo in the center. Cross sign all the photos.
    13. Marriage card photocopy (preferable both parties),.
    14. Aadhar, PAN, Passport etc of bride and groom. Basically Age and Address proof.
    15. PAN and aadhar of 2 witnesses.
    16. Carry this file and all original documents (including marriage card if available) to SDM office (of your area, according to your appointment).
    17. Reach early 09:30 - 09:45 and give your file. They will give you a number, will call you according to the number. For me, it was the Najafgarh SDM office.
    18. At your turn, go along with witness and pay fees (using a debit card). Carry debit card, they do not accept cash.
    19. After the verification of your documents, the counter person will ask you to take your file and meet another person (writer to SDM).
    20. Go and meet him with Witness. He will ask you to sign in front of him and that is all
    21. You will get a temporary marriage certificate to your email ID.
    22. Take a color scan, sign and they reply back to the same email ID.
    23. After a couple of days, the marriage certificate will be available to your login. Please do not miss your login credentials. No hard copy will be provided, you can take color print of soft copy.
