MARRIAGE REGISTRATION ACTS

Currently, there are two marriage registration acts under which it is issued :

The Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 : When marriage is already solemnized where Husband and Wife are Hindus, Buddhists, Jain or Sikhs or when they are converted into any of these religions, they will be considered under these registration Act.

The Special Marriage Act, 1954 : Whereas, this act lay down the procedure for both solemnization and registration of marriage certificate where either of the party or both are not Hindus, Buddhists, Jain or Sikhs.

How To Apply Marriage For Marriage Registration

Firstly, Check the Eligibility for Marriage Registration.

Marriages should be performed as per Hindu religion only
Boy and Girl should be Hindus in religion
Boy should be of 21 years and Girl should be of 18 years at the time of marriage

Documents Required for Marriage Registration (Arrange these document then)

Marriage registration application form duly signed by both husband and wife.
Birth Proof (Matriculation Certificate/ Passport/ Birth Certificate). The age of girl and boy should be is 18 and 21 years respectively at the time of marriage.
Address Proof of Wife or Husband.
Aadhaar card of both Wife or Husband.
You need to arrange an Affidavit which is stating place and date of birth, place, and date of marriage status of girl and boy at the time of marriage and there religion & nationality.
Four passport size photographs of both the parties and Two marriage photographs.
Marriage invitation card of both Parties
Need two witnesses having PAN, Aadhaar card, Age Proof.
In the case of a divorcee. A divorce decree is required.

Create Affidavit For Marriage Registration For Groom.

Now you have to prepare Affidavit for Groom for marriage registration. Make sure that you will notarize your affidavit before submitting your file

Create Affidavit For Marriage Registration For Bride.

Now you have to prepare Affidavit for Groom for marriage registration.

Submit Your Application to SDM or Marriage Registrar.

You have to submit the application marriage with the document to SDM or Marriage officer
SDM will check your all documents and give declarations to Girl and Boy and there Witness.
SDM will do Marriage Registration in front of Two witnesses.
Marriage certificate will be issued by SDM after registration of marriage only to Groom and Bride.
